Information
Gloucestershire is a county in South West England. The county comprises part of the Cotswold Hills, part of the flat fertile valley of the River Severn, and the entire Forest of Dean. The county town is the city of Gloucester, and other principal towns include Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stroud, and Tewkesbury.

Gloucestershire is a historic county mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in the 10th century, though the areas of Winchcombe and the Forest of Dean were not added until the late 11th century.

An annual "cheese-rolling" event takes place at Cooper's Hill, near Brockworth and the Cotswold Games occurred within the county.

Things to do
The Cotswolds area is one of England's favourite destinations famous for hundreds of honey-colour limestone villages in a beautiful rural setting. The Cotswolds were designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1966.

Gloucester City has several museums including, Gloucester Folk Museum, Gloucester City Museum & Art Gallery and Gloucester Waterways Museum

The award-winning Gloucester Tall Ships is rather unique amongst similar festivals - there's nothing quite like the sight of a flotilla of sailing vessels as they make their grand entrance into the UK's most inland port via the Gloucester Sharpness Canal. The bi-annual Gloucester Tall Ships Festival takes place during the Spring Bank Holiday
