Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site

The site lies at the edge of woodland in the Forest of Dean.Apart from exploring the forest the site is situated a short drive from Coleford,Lydney and the Welsh Border,it also makes an ideal base for visiting the Wye Valley.The site has 10 pitches,electric hook-up,a toilet block including a hot shower and a chemical disposal point.A small hut contains recycling bins & a stock of leaflets detailing places & events of local interest.A self-contained Annexeis also available to rent.

Woodland walks & cycle trails are easily reached from the site,an interesting garden centre & nursery are close by.Places of interest include The Speech House,Puzzlewood,Go-Ape,Clearwell Caves (which contains remains of iron mines worked for over 2500yrs).The Dean Forest Railway operates Steam Trains. Monmouth,The Naval Temple on Kymin Hill (Nelson visited in 1802).There are many Castles close including St Briavels,Chepstow & Caldicot.Also Tintern Abbey sits on the bank of the River Wye.
