The town of Barnard Castle hosts the Teesdale Thrash on May Day Bank Holiday – a traditional extravaganza of folk song and dance. Pony trekking is available at Raygill farm, next to the Club Site. Nearby Attractions Built in 1892 as a public art gallery, the Bowes Museum also hosts exhibitions, demonstrations, craft fairs and an open air theatre. Thorpe Farm Centre has several attractions, including a falconry centre and indoor play barn. Situated in an old chapel, Bowlees Visitor Centre is just across the road from one of the most attractive sections of the Pennine Way. Durham’s cathedral and castle form a World Heritage Site. The city also has several museums, gardens and galleries to explore.
