Information
Snowdonia National Park was established in 1951 as the third National Park in Britain. It covers 827 square miles, and has 37 miles of coastline.

There's also a long coastline of sandy beaches, spectacular cliffs and glorious estuaries, which along the Llyn Peninsula is a protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Park's natural forests are of the mixed deciduous type, the commonest tree being the Welsh Oak. Birch, ash, mountain-ash and hazel are also common. The Park also contains some large coniferous forested areas such as Gwydir Forest near Betws-y-Coed.

Things to do
Snowdon itself is obviously the prime destination for many with the most popular routes to the summit being the Llanberis Path, which runs parallel to the Snowdon Mountain Railway.

If walking up mountains is not your thing, try the Llyn Coastal Path and you can enjoy the splendour of the areas diverse landscape, there are small coves and long sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and wild heathland.

With over 150 attractions in the Snowdonia Mountains and Coast area there's plenty of choice when you're visiting the area, from boat trips to climbing and railways to horse riding to name but a few, you will never be short of things to do.

Llyn Costal Path is outside Snowdonia National Park, however you can find suggestions of several levels of walks, including easy leisure walks on the Walking In Snowdonia website.
